The quality of the education you receive is paramount to your ability to dive safe and dive well. After all, a highly-knowledgable, highly-trained diver is a safe diver who is able to truly enjoy diving with ease. Therefore, courses are the very foundation from which everything else is built upon, and when combined with purposeful time in the water spent with guided practice and expert mentorship, amazing divers can be "grown".
And that's the goal, isn't it?
A highly trained, highly educated, and highly skilled diver will find diving can be highly enjoyable as a result, even in the most challenging of environments and conditions. As such, training to be a SCUBA diver should be taken seriously, and dive training should be challenging and rewarding. Training to be a SCUBA Diver requires study and education in math, physics, biology, chemistry, a practical understanding of environmental and earth sciences, some engineering, psychology, leadership and leadership development, and much more as it relates to the activity of SCUBA diving. Dive training promotes athleticism, personal confidence and self-awareness, team-building, critical thinking and complex problem-solving, and contributes to development and growth as a well-rounded individual. Our goal is to provide, hands-down, the best dive education and training possible, so we can grow the most competent, confident, capable, and safe divers on the planet, with high level KSA's from day one.

We get this question all the time; Many divers ask us, "What is the first course?", or "what is the next course?", or "what is the recommended series of courses I must take to reach my desired level?" Below is a short list of courses in order for those interested in learning what the Progression Pathway looks like.
Recreational Courses are the first courses, and make up the Core Development of a divers' education and training. Just because someone enrolls in a course does not guarantee they will pass and obtain a certification. It is expected that all students will take their courses seriously, dedicating ample time for study of academics, and make serious effort to train during their course. After certification, it is further expected that all divers will dedicate themselves to practicing and internalizing all knowledge and skills they learned during their course so they may gain experience and master their new abilities, before attempting to enroll in the next course. These courses must be completed in order. With the exception of Open Water SCUBA Diver, all courses have prerequisites. After Open Water, a diver may begin some Specialty Courses, and after enough practice, a diver might be ready for the Advanced course. Upon meeting the minimum prerequisite training and experience requirements, a diver may even begin Technical or Rebreather training. Finally, after a diver obtains their Master SCUBA Diver certification, they may move on to Leadership training, or even Occupational training.
With the exception of Nitrox prior to enrolling in a Rescue Diver course, Specialty Courses are not requirements for progression. Instead, they exist to enhance a divers' capabilities in specialized areas not covered by Core Developmental courses.
These courses train and certify divers in emergency first response procedures, including assessing illnesses and injuries, providing emergency treatment and care, and managing activation of Emergency Action Plans. BLS and O2 Provider are requirements before entering a Rescue Diver or any Technical course, and DFA-Pro is a prerequisite before being accepted as a Leadership candidate.
Leadership courses require a very different mentality than Recreational diving does, and they often take a long time to conduct as extensive practice, guidance, and mentorship is the process by which highly skilled, highly trained, qualified professionals are made. Leadership training can not begin until after all Core Recreational courses have been completed, and even then, candidates must be assessed for authorization to enroll before being accepted into a course.
Like Leadership courses, Technical courses require a very different mentality than that of Recreational diving. Candidates must be assessed for authorization to enroll before being accepted into a course, intensive study and practice are mandatory once enrolled, standards are far higher, and so are the expectations--Just like Leadership courses. Also just like Leadership courses, candidates can not begin these training programs until after all Core Recreational prerequisite courses have been completed, and minimum experience requirements have been met.
Open Circuit Technical
Open Circuit Technical Leadership
*NOTE: After Advanced EANx Diver, it is strongly recommended to leave the Open Circuit pathway and immediately cross over straight to Closed Circuit. Open Circuit Trimix use is both extremely expensive and extremely wasteful. Further, despite their increased complexity, Rebreathers offer increased safety, increased options to address emergencies, and reduce gas costs and needs.
Advanced technical specialties include Overhead Environments such as Cave and Wreck courses, and specialty equipment courses such as Diver Propulsion Vehicles for technical use.
Rebreather training may begin at the recreational level, however, just like Technical courses, Rebreather courses require a very different mentality than that of Recreational diving. Candidates must be assessed for authorization to enroll before being accepted into a course, intensive study and practice are mandatory once enrolled, standards are far higher, and so are the expectations--Just like Leadership courses. Also just like Technical courses, candidates can not begin these training programs until after all Core Recreational prerequisite courses have been completed, and minimum experience requirements have been met.
Recreational CCR (RCCR)
Technical CCR
Leadership CCR
Advanced rebreather specialties include Overhead Environments such as Cave and Wreck courses, and specialty equipment courses such as Diver Propulsion Vehicles for technical use.
Like Leadership, Technical, and Rebreather courses, Occupational courses require a very different mentality than that of Recreational diving. Candidates must be assessed for authorization to enroll before being accepted into a course, intensive study and practice are mandatory once enrolled, standards are far higher, and so are the expectations. Additionally, candidates can not begin Occupational training until after all Core Recreational and prerequisite courses have been completed.
* Prices for dive education and training vary depending on the course taken, student needs, equipment needs, and local economy where the course is conducted. Current prices reflect local area course costs only. Additionally, some courses require students to supply their own equipment. Please read the information on the FAQ's Page to learn more about how our training process works.
We Grow the BEST Divers on Earth.
It's a bold thing to say, and we know that. But we also know for a fact that a "certification" doesn't make you a good diver. After all, while most can learn to dive, all the courses in the world under your belt, or dives logged in your book, doesn't mean you know how to do it well. A certification is merely "proof of education" and nothing more, and a cheap plastic card won't do you any good underwater when it matters most.
One look around at the majority of divers out there, and the type of training they receive, is proof of that. Poor instruction creates marginal divers who then go on to ruin dive sites, destroy reefs, and put themselves and others in potential danger. And that's not the diver's fault, it's the fault of those who provided their education and training (or lack thereof). Worse, sub-standard dive training has become the norm around the world as standards have been lowered for decades purposely to entice more people to learn to dive simply to make more money. When "profit" is your goal, something MUST be sacrificed to make it, and those things are usually time, quality, instruction, practice, skills, and more, all of which directly translate to impacting safety. This is not only counter to dive safety, it has done a massive disservice to the diver communities as a whole, the environment, and the public perception of diving along with it.
Pinnacle Diving Company seeks to change this. We genuinely seek to improve the diving community by offering quality education and training, along with continuous skills improvement and progression through expert mentorship and guidance, thereby growing divers with high skill levels from day one, who are safer and more capable because of it.
The quality of the education you receive is paramount to your ability to dive safe and dive well. Courses are the very foundation from which everything else is built upon, yet by themselves, they are not enough. Even a great foundation doesn't make a real diver, and courses don't equal mastery of knowledge, skills, or abilities either. No... A "certification" represents permission to learn more, and what makes REAL "divers", is a combination of that foundation with what comes AFTER being granted that permission... Purposeful time in the water along with guided practice and expert mentorship.
Amazing divers must be "grown" by leaders capable of solid mentorship, and this is exactly where Pinnacle Diving Company comes in.
We genuinely seek to change and improve the world's diving communities by offering the best dive education and training possible, to grow the most competent, confident, capable, and safe divers on the planet, with high level KSA's from day one.
Because for us, exceeding the standard IS "The Standard".
